Hello. My name is Frédéric BELLEC. I’m French and have been a great fan of the AMSTRAD CPC for a third of a century. I invite you to travel with me.
If you are under thirty, this compilation may not appeal to you. For the others, those who knew the beginnings of the democratization of family computing, at a time when octets still had a soul, the AMSTRAD CPC microcomputer is an icon, the emblem of a whole generation of future coders, graphic designers, musicians and digital technicians. For these artists and 8-bit virtuosos, the CPCs 464, 664 and 6128 have given birth to a starting number of vocations at a time when no one was afraid to spend sleepless nights typing multi-page listings published in the computer journals. Until the « fast-food » internet turned the digital world upside down!
Before the CPC, there was the ZX81, Alice, the ORIC 1... Technological evolution forced us to move on to the THOMSON MO5, the COMMODORE 64, ... and the AMSTRAD CPC! Then came the 16 bits with the AMIGA and ATARI which almost failed to sound the 8-bit knell. But the AMSTRAD CPC, whose model 6128 was the flagship of the brand, remains and will remain THE machine, THE representative of BASIC, THE jewel that still now, in 2017, drives people to tear through the flea markets and classified ads.
This compilation, affectionately called AMSTRAD CPC MÉMOIRE ÉCRITE (AMSTRAD CPC MEMORY ENGRAVED in its english equivalent), or ACME for the affectionados, is a dematerialized base that aspires to regroup on one site every product related to the theme of the AMSTRAD CPC in the 80s and 90s, with emphasis on French literature (books and magazines). This reconstruction of the CPC's heritage is therefore not intended to highlight the recent productions made on CPC (because the CPC scene is still active), but to preserve the memory of this exceptional machine.
This compilation work remains complex and requires patience and lots of mouse clicks. For if surfwing the web is one thing, accessing its depths is another! Efficiency calls for a change in the language of the search engine to be sure to access foreign websites (cross-border search from its own language is at best inefficient, even sterile). Imagine the hassle when you do not speak Turkish, German or Danish, or you have to register for a Polish forum to access documents! Certainly there are sites devoted to the collection of old magazines, but they face the same challenge and are just as incomplete. Another – expensive – way is to search online stores such as eBay or Rakuten. But soulless speculators rejoice by selling rare docs at outrageous prices to those collectors whose only motivation is to scan and share them with others.
About the CPC software on ACME, they are an improved and refined synthesis of the biggest compilations available in their latest version (GamebaseCPCV33, GoodCPC 3.1415, CPCGamesCD 2020-03-30, TOSEC ...).
I do not derive any commercial or financial benefit from this website. Its existence serves only one purpose : to preserve and facilitate the consultation of works that time would have quickly erased without further intervention. My only compensation in this work of archiving comes from the pleasure that I derive from it, pleasure nourished by the nostalgia and the happiness of knowing that others share this same passion for the AMSTRAD CPC. I therefore ensure that the documents remain accessible to all, whether donors or not, friends or anonymous.
Now, for you, computer enthusiasts, I wish you a sweet journey back in time and some « crocodile-inspired » tears of joy while you navigate this constantly-evolving website.
My name, you already know it, but my nickname a little less: ABSYS (ABSYS (Amiga Beat SYStem) in the Amiga-scene. I am not very well known, I am amateur of the shade.
I live in Cher, Center France region, after having built my professional career in the IT sector (webmastering, advertising, media ...) on the French Riviera. I was born in 1965 and built my bit passion on the first family microcomputers (ZX81, ORIC 1, AMSTRAD CPC 6128, AMIGA 500 then 1200). Today, I am determined to revive in digital format the media that made it possible to share this passion for digital creativity. With the ease of the internet, after having sent floppy disks by post (and what a pleasure it was that time when nobody was in a hurry).
I'm also a writer (see my author page). Otherwise I'm like everyone, boilerplate and rather discreet, refractory to the spotlight. I like cocooner, almond paste and my PC.
And like all the geeks on the planet, I'm on Facebook.

My first thanks are naturally addressed to all those - individuals and associations - who for years (sometimes two decades) have deployed their energy to the collection of documents on the CPC universe and then place them publicly available on websites or forums. And this in several European countries. For it is first from these precious sources that the heart of ACME has been set, with the intention to continue, de complete, and I hope to finish this work of archiving. Without this prerequisite, ACME would have been much longer to build. Today, the train is running, this site is more and more known, and the contributors fans of the CPC are manifested for the happiness of all.
These contributors, happy owners of paper documents (mainly books), have agreed to send them to me, most often at their expense for physical documents. Some also chose to contribute in addition/financially to the site. This section therefore wishes to attribute to all these contributors the honor due to them, both for the confidence they have shown me and for the happy consequences that this digital trust develops – I should say perennialise – in the microcosm CPC. I thank you:
A goal of 300 € reached in just 4 days thanks to 23 participants. An impulse of generosity that stuck me! The pot has made it possible to acquire the following books to scan them:
List of happy participants that I will never thank enough:
If I ever forgot someone, contact me and pull my ears so that I correct the shot!
For general informations and biggest additions (ex: new scanned books), please read Facebook ACME group.
These documents will soon be scanned (or rescanned in higher resolution):
Books and magazines have priority, in all languages, but french is more sought after, that's why only french books and magazines are in this list. These documents can be loaned for the time of digitization (see section Wanted). This list of missing documents is regularly updated.
